The UnitedBuilt S23009MS external retaining ring is a stainless steel ring for a nominal 1-1/8-inch shaft size. It fits an external groove to provide an axial retaining shoulder and is used at the 816A position in the M3ZRMS mechanical-seal shaft kits below.

Match the ring position as well as the shaft

The mechanical-seal shaft assembly also uses a separate S23010MS retaining ring at position 816B. S23009MS and S23010MS are different selections; a similar appearance or shared pump family is not enough to establish interchangeability. Match the existing ring number, groove and assembly position before replacing it.
