Coxreels 8954 bearing assembly supports the axle at the inline-swivel end of compatible 1185 hose reels, including 1185-1124 and 1185-2024 hand-crank reels and their motorized versions. Its housing receives the flanged end of the matching inline swivel. One bearing assembly is supplied; the swivel, retaining plate, washers, rings and mounting hardware are separate components.
An inline 1185 reel uses different bearing assemblies at opposite ends. Match the existing swivel-side assembly before ordering: 8954 is the inline-swivel selection, while 8166 serves a different position and is used at both ends of the optional 90-degree-swivel arrangement.

| Check | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Existing assembly | Confirm complete reel model, revision and swivel configuration. Check the bearing at the swivel end; do not substitute by appearance or plumbing size alone. |
| Older or modified reels | Verify the installed axle and swivel match the 8954 arrangement before ordering. |
| Safe service | Have qualified personnel disconnect the pressure supply, release line pressure and isolate any motor drive before service. Follow the applicable reel assembly drawing. |
| Installation checks | Align the bearing blocks, fully seat retaining rings, and fit the thrust washer with its coated side outward. Maintain the required 1/16- to 1/8-inch clearance at the opposite bearing-block end. |
| Related wear | Inspect the separate washers, rings, swivel seals and hardware before reassembly; replace worn parts as needed. |
