The Elkhart Brass 46054000 positioning magnet is a 1/4″ diameter x 1/4″ long replacement component for the Sidewinder Electric 8494-01 monitor. It works with the monitor’s position-sensing system to establish travel limits.

Use this magnet when replacing a missing or damaged component at a service location calling for part 46054000. Correct placement and orientation allow the sensor to detect the intended stopping position; only one end of the magnet activates the sensor.

Check Guidance
Sensor configuration Sidewinder monitors built before September 2006 use a different sensor and magnet arrangement from later units. Confirm the build date and installed sensor style before ordering.
Magnet orientation Install the magnet with the correct end facing the sensor and seat it fully in its pocket.
Travel limits Follow the applicable Elkhart instructions for magnet placement and the intended horizontal travel range.
Service procedure Remove system power before service; follow Elkhart’s procedure for any powered orientation checks. Do not use power tools on the manual override nut.
Return to service Test each travel stop and confirm the wiring harness does not bind before returning the monitor to service.
