This female JIC cap closes a matching male 37-degree flare connection. It belongs on a male JIC fitting, not inside a female ORB or pipe port. Confirm the flare family as well as thread size when capping a disconnected or unused line connection.
Cap a male JIC connection
The female threads draw the cap onto the male fitting so the matching flare surfaces can seat together. The exterior hex provides wrench access for assembly and removal. A cap is therefore different from a male port plug, even when both parts use a similar nominal connection size.

The -12 size is a 3/4-inch nominal tube-size family, not a 3/4-inch thread outside diameter. Check the actual male fitting before ordering, especially if its original part number is unavailable. Thread tape is not a substitute for the correct JIC seat, and a cap should not be used to make an incompatible connection fit.
